Babyproof nursery checklist
Your baby will spend a lot of its early life in the nursery, so it is important to make sure that the room is safe.
01Crib
- Set mattress to lowest level
- Place rug under crib (to cushion falls)
- Keep electric blankets & heating pads out of the crib
- Keep suffocation hazards such as large pillows and stuffed animals out of the crib
- Remove crib bumper when baby is old enough to push itself up
02Changing table
- Install (and use) safety belt
- Place rug under changing table (to cushion falls)
03Windows & coverings
- Window guards
- Quantity Required:

- Window cord tensioners or safety tassels
- Quantity Required:
- Keep crib or child bed well away from the window
04Toys
- Keep toys with long strings or cords away from your baby
- Drill holes and install safety hinges in your baby's toy chest
05Nightlights
- Keep nightlights at least three feet away from the crib, bedding and draperies
09Always be vigilant!
- To successfully babyproof your nursery you will need to be constantly on the alert for possible choking and suffocation hazards. Make sure your crib meets safety standards and always put your baby to sleep on its back!
