BabyPartner's fetal development charts display the size and weight of your baby week-by-week as it grows inside the uterus. The growth is measured both in pounds and inches as well as the metric equivalent. Many doctors routinely measure in metric units and you will be able to quickly convert between both measurements as your baby grows.
The right hand columns of the fetal development charts allow you to make a note of your baby's measurements as you return from your prenatal visits. Compare how your baby is growing alongside an average sized baby. If you are using the Microsoft Excel version of the chart you can enter the numbers into the spreadsheet and watch the graph below as it plots your baby's relative size!
You'll notice that your baby's weight and size do not grow in parallel. This is partly because of the way the baby develops in the uterus, and also because as the baby grows it is measured first from crown to rump, then later from crown to foot.
The measurements on this chart form part of a statisical average baby. If your baby's size does not correspond exactly with that on the chart it is not cause for alarm. After all, you're probably not of statistically average height either! If you have a concern about your baby's development you should consult your doctor who will be able to determine if your baby is within the appropriate size ranges for its dates.
