You. Your Pregnancy. Your Baby.

Your week by week guide to trimester three

In just fourteen short weeks you will give birth to your new baby. Finally, after nine months of pregnancy you will get to meet your new child. The excitement can be hard to contain for any parent, but you might also feel unexpected sad emotions to. Your baby will have made it's first step to independence and it's own life, so be prepared to face conflicting emotions after your baby is born.

There's much to keep you busy before your child is born. Are you prepared for labor? Have you enrolled in any prenatal classes? Perhaps you are planning a home-birth? Fourteen weeks will pass by very quickly, and as you grow bigger, you will have less energy to manage simple daily tasks. Be sure to involve your partner, so that he can take some of the burden from you, and both of you will be prepared for the next step before your baby is born.

During this trimester your baby will grow rapidly, putting on fat and weight to help keep it warm after it leaves to cozy confines of the uterus. You will feel it moving less as it grows bigger, and your doctor will want to confirm that it is in a suitable position prior to being born. Only five percent of babies are born on their estimated due date (it's only an estimate after all), so don't be alarmed if your baby doesn't arrive the afternoon you have planned.

Your doctor will want to carefully monitor the development of your baby as it grows. Is it growing too fast? Too slow perhaps? Every bit of information is useful as the birth of your baby gets near, and will be used to ensure that your baby is delivered safely. Of course if your doctor notices anything amiss, regular visits provide plenty of time to make necessary plans to increase the health and safety of your baby.

Finally, be sure to have a fresh roll of film in your camera, and plenty of fresh batteries. You don't want to miss that moment when your baby gets to meet you and your family for the first time.
