Treating condylomata acuminatum during pregnancy

There is no cure for the human papillomavirus, but the warts can be treated. All treatments except for a chemical irritant called podophyllin are proven to be safe for use during pregnancy. Doctors choose between four methods of treatment: cryosurgery (freezing), electrocautery (burning), laser therapy and chemical removal. A sloughing cream is used to remove cervical warts. The method of treatment used depends on the stage of pregnancy and the severity of the infection. After treatment the virus causes few if any problems, but it will remain in your bloodstream forever.
