Scoliosis
      09/17/05 10:52 AM

I have scoliosis really bad. Just in case you don't know what it is, it is curviture of the spine. I have a big curve at the top of my back and a even bigger one on the lower part of my back. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and before I got pregnant my back was killing me when I got home. When I lay done and then try to get up, I have a pain that is so bad I can't stand up I start to cry and when I finally get up it takes me abotu 5 minutes before I can walk. I don't have insurance so I can't do anything to help it, when I have gone to the doctor thought they say the only thing I can do is war a brace or get surgery. I asked my doctor if my back is going to get in the way of the pregnancy, and he said it should be fine. I don't know though, lately when I go to sleep I have a hard time turing because that spot hurts, and usually it only hurt for a little while then goes away. I had a friend who is a nurse look at it and she thinks it is the pressure point to where all my pain hits in my back (if that makes sense) I read abotu being pregnant and having scoliosis, I read that the younger you have the baby the better, and that sometimes it causes complications during labor bcause the spine and the way things lay, won't let the baby come out right. I wanted a C because I thought it would be better for me, I can't stand pain at all. When I got cramps during my period I always passed out because of the pain. I believe I can make it through the pregnancy ok. But I just watned to knwo if anybody has this problem and how it effected you. Thanks a million!!
