BabyPartner Forums: cramps or contractions?

Okay, for the past 3 days these darned cramps have been annoying the heck out of me. My doctor tells me that they are actually contractions, but to only be concerned if I have more that 6 in an hour. They feel like the cramps you get when you are about to start your period...and I know that isn't going to happen for at least another 3 months or so! In fact, last time this occured the OB and I both thought that it could be a bladder infection, but as the tests came back negative and I described them better, she calls them contractions.

Well, if they aren't the "well-defined" contrax...how in the heck am I supposed to tell? They do get painful off and on, wake me up out of a sound sleep and make it painful to lean forward. Other than that, they don't bother me, but I think that is enough to be getting along with.

Any suggestions? Any links? Any information would be great. Thanks!
