About Us

In early 1999 five partners brought together their wealth of experience, knowledge and creative talent to form BabyPartner.

After being asked by a friend to recommend a pregnancy website, cofounder Antoni Deighton felt that there was room in the market to create a new site that was very easy to use without reducing the quantity or quality of the information provided.

Designer Arnold Schwartzmann rose to the challenge of creating his first website. A world renowned graphic designer he has worked with Saul Bass, Orson Welles and Elizabeth Taylor. In 1981 he won an Academy Award® for producing Genocide, a film about the holocaust for the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Now CEO of his own design company, Arnold Schwartmann Productions, he was given an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen of England in 2002.

In early 2000, BabyPartner received funding to build the vision that the founding partners had created. Jonathan Ly oversaw a team of programmers who transformed the volumes of text, and pages of design notes into a working website.

As the site developed, he used his experience to make the BabyPartner experience as friendly as possible. BabyPartner also benefited from the expertise of Alexander Deighton and Marco Bergmann, founders of Vision Systems Technology, who shared their technical skills building websites for International corporations with our little startup.

From the beginning, the founders realized that their goal was to provide expectant parents with information. They realized that it was more important to give visitors a variety of options rather than limiting to one source of information. Dr. Kathleen Scanlon OB-Gyn, Dr. Maya Priestley (Imperial College School of Medicine) and June Felton, (a leading authority on baby development and autism) all made vital contributions to the site early on.

With their help BabyPartner now contains over 3,000 pages of information. But there is no limit to the knowledge we can learn from nature, and BabyPartner will continue to grow to provide the best, most complete and easiest to use resource for expectant parents on the web.
